Ryefield Hops is A family owned business utilising ex-dairy farming land. We are dedicated to producing sustainable hops GROWN USING REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE PRINCIPLES for the Australian craft beer market. 

We are located in South East NSW, nestled IN THE BEGA valley half way between Melbourne and Sydney.

Ryefield Hops is a family partnership based in Bemboka, NSW.  The farm on which the hops are being grown is a 3rd generation dairy farm that in the past was a key supplier of milk to the local cheese factory – Bega Cheese.  The farm no longer operates as a dairy farm and growing hops is an opportunity to revitalise and diversify the farmland.  2017 was the first growing season for Ryefield Hops and we have expanded every season since to the most recent major expansion undertaken this season. We had 2 acres under crop then constructed 10 additional acres in a separate field. We have also constructed a custom built harvesting and processing facility. The 2021 expansion saw Ryefield Hops grow into a fully operational commercial hops supplier and the third largest hops farm in Australia.

The farm has sustainability at its core and grows hops using organic practices and regenerative agriculture principles.  We implement farming methods to promote and build healthy soils, biodiversity, natural predators and enhanced water quality and retention. We have also designed our new processing facility with sustainability elements to reduce power input and material use.

Ryefield Hop’s philosophy is “garden to glass” fostering regionality, terrior and beers made where the consumer can taste the story and know where the ingredients were grown.

OUR HOPS ARE AVAILABLE AS

Fresh Hops

Use our hops in your craft beer fresh off the bine without being processed at all! 

Ryefield Hops are eager to work with breweries to facilitate fresh hopped beer. This beer can only occur at harvest time each year (February/March) and the fresh hops should be brewed within 48 hours of picking.

Frozen fresh hops are also available on preorder.

Dried hops

Our hops are dried to the optimum % dry weight and sealed in a nitrogen purged vacuum bag. Dry hops should be stored in a fridge and will maintain their freshness and aromas for up to 12 months if stored correctly. 

Whole cone dried hops are available year round dependent upon quantities available.   

T-90 pellets

We have recently invested in a hop-specific pelletiser so we can provide pellets for our 2023 harvest. Hops pellets are packaged into nitrogen purged vacuum sealed foil bags.
