MASTERCLASS: hop growing at home
If you’re a homebrewer and keen on using your own hops in your brews, this is the workshop for you! It’s only held ONCE A YEAR.
You will leave with a few crowns (hop plants) to plant in your own backyard and the knowledge about how to grow them.
This workshop at Ryefield Hops is aimed for those keen to start growing hops in their backyard or for those already growing and eager to learn more. You will walk away with knowledge about where to plant your hops, how to care for them during the growing season and how to process and store your hops at home. You'll also get an in-depth tour of our field and processing shed to see how hops are grown on a commercial scale.
You don’t have to be a homebrewer to attend this masterclass - if you’d like to grow hops in your garden for shade, decorative purposes or to use medicinally you will absolutely benefit from this workshop as well.
The masterclass will include:
Complete ‘how to’ of hop growing from owners/growers - Karen, Morgan and Jade.
Behind the scenes Ryefield Hops farm tour
Guided sensory session
Guided tasting session
Hop growing kit (2 hop crowns, growers guide & string ready to plant for 2025/26 season)
Lunch and refreshments
Draught craft beer during workshop
Guidance from Ryefield through the hop growing season
You will surrounded by likeminded individuals keen to learn about a core ingredient in beer. Ryefield Hops pride themselves on producing sustainable hops grown using regenerative agriculture principles. We’ll touch on the differences between this and conventional farming throughout the workshop so you can decide what methods you wish to adopt at home or on your farm. You’ll take home two hop crowns ready to start growing with your newfound knowledge.
You can start brewing with your own harvest!
