Plants are currently growing so won’t be delivered until they are dormant in winter. Please don’t expect immediate delivery. You plants will be posted in August and you will receive an email prior to dispatch.

Hops are a perennial plant that can be used for brewing, shade cover during summer and they also have medicinal properties.

CROWNS/PLANTS YOU WILL RECEIVE>

Hops are propagated, potted and grown in a controlled nursery for an entire season. Crowns are stored in our coolroom over winter and can be planted between September - late October. They have loads of energy stored in their roots so they’ll be ready to climb your trellis almost immediately after being planted.

When planting crowns/hop plants you only need one per hole/mound. Whereas, in comparison to rhizomes, it’s recommended to plant 2-3 rhizomes per hole to ensure viability of at least one.

You will receive basic growing instructions with your delivery.

Crowns can be stored in a fridge until ready to be planted in spring. They are a perennial plant so do not have to be re-planted each year.

Hops are mostly used for brewing purposes but the flowers also have a lot of other benefits including medicinal. Unfortunately these benefits cannot be utilised from just drinking beer! Hop teas, tinctures, elixirs, salve, oils and tablets can be used to receive the below benefits;

• Sleepiness – Hops are a natural sedative. You can combine hops with other sleep aids like valerian to promote relaxation and improve sleep quality.

• Cardiovascular Health - protects blood vessels from oxidative damage.

• Restlessness – Along with being a sleep aid, hops can help combat restlessness at night.

• Anxiety – Hops help reduce anxiety with its sedative qualities.

• Digestion and weightloss – Hops accelerate the body's metabolism which aids digestion.

• Pain – Ingesting hops can help with joint and muscular pain relief.

• Colds and Flu – They have antiviral and antibacterial properties.

• Topical Care – They have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

• Estrogen Replacement - Some women use hops as an estrogen replacement so can help manage menopause symptoms.

You can purchase 1 hop plant or 1,000 hop plants from Ryefield Hops. Large quantities need to be ordered by end of November to ensure sufficient quantities are propagated per variety.
